Effective counselling when you need it most

Welcome to Live Therapy
Live Therapy provides professional counselling quickly and for a reasonable fee. There is no wait-list and no need for a GP referral. If you are dealing with problems in your relationships, work, anxiety, depression, big changes in your life, illness or just feel overwhelmed, help is close at hand.
Appointments are in-person in Elsternwick in Melbourne or online to people anywhere in Australia.
Evidence-based strategies are used such as CBT, ACT, EFT, Narrative Therapy and the Gottman Method for couples therapy. Therapy is adjusted to suit the client and can be single or multi-session. Fees are affordable. Appointments are also available after-hours or on weekends.

When relationship conflict happens it can feel like the world is caving in. Couples therapy can help in those times of high tension. It takes the stress out of the situation and gives the couple the time and space to look closely at the issues. In the safety of the counselling room, couples can open up and share their feelings with each other. The counsellor offers protection and assists the couple to speak, listen and reflect. This can lead to greater understanding, reconciliation and progress. If the couple is dealing with external chaos they might learn better ways of coping.
Couples are supported through sensitive and non-judgmental counselling. Each member of the couple is heard and respected as we work through the issues together. I use the Gottman Method as well as aspects of Emotionally Focused Therapy. The Gottman Method is structured therapy which includes a framework for assessing and repairing the relationship. During therapy we practice techniques which help bring greater understanding and better ways of communicating.
Couples counselling is available at short-notice. Please reach out if you need urgent help or have questions.
Stress is endemic in our modern world and burnout is also becoming a problem for many people. Self-care is often sacrificed by busy workers, parents, carers and people going through health challenges. People often endure stress believing that things can't get better. Stress can damage our mental and physical health.
We shouldn't go through all these things alone. Sometimes we just need to speak to someone. Talking to a counsellor can give you comfort, new perspectives and ways of coping. Counselling is the best form or self-care and it can prevent further damage to our health and relationships.
Litsa works with all kinds of people experiencing challenges at work or in their home lives. Therapy takes the form of empathetic listening as well as trying different strategies to bring about positive change.
Urgent appointments are available for people living with chronic illness.
Chronic illness support is a priority at Live Therapy because our Counsellor Litsa also lives with a chronic illness. She chose the name LIVE Therapy with chronic illness in mind. The aim is to help chronically ill people feel like they are truly LIVING again.
Litsa provides a safe space where you can talk about your all your experiences, feelings and challenges and be fully understood. Feelings such as grief, pain, exhaustion, anger, fear, frustration, loneliness, confusion and sadness are common. Sometimes when we are ill we forget who we are and what we are capable of. We must remember that our lives are worth living and they are still full of meaning.
Person-centred therapy is most effective. Empathy and validation bring deep comfort. When you are ready we can work on strategies to improve every day life.
Chronic illness can also have a deep impact on carers and loved ones. They can also feel grief, frustration, anger, guilt and burnout. Relationships can suffer. Financial challenges cause stress and real loss. The impact of illness is immense.
The impact on the carers is often forgotten. Caring is not something that anyone should deal with alone.
Litsa provides a safe space for carers and loved ones to be heard. They are not judged and empathy is assured.
We can work together to better understand your situation and design strategies to help you cope better.
